Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to the longest-running* yet least-read** blog on the internet! Here you'll find me writing about all the things that I write about, which strikes me, just now, as somewhat recursive. In any case, enjoy :)

Status: Editing

Just a short note, Dear Reader, to inform you that I am still alive, and working, if only tangentially. Mostly what I'm doing is editing, going back over previously released material with a fine-toothed comb, and finding an embarrassing number of typos, especially in The Thief Who Pulled On Trouble's Braids.

It started out as a general once-over in preparation to get on with Amra #3; looking for continuity issues (did The Blade That Whispers Hate scar her hand permanently or not? That sort of thing).

I don't know if I'm avoiding the writing with the copy editing or not. I just know it needs to be done.

Just checking in. How are things, Michael? Are you still in the editing cave?

Hi, Deborah :) Sorry for the late reply.

I'm working on a few projects at the same time, and not really pushing myself on any of them - though today is planned to be a big writing day :) I've got a lot of pen and ink writing to convert to electrons today and tomorrow, which should push the word counts up a bit.

I am still editing - I'm always editing - but I'm also generating content. We'll see if it's decent or not.

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods :D

Michael,
I'm glad you are still writing. I just read Amra 1, and I really liked it. Good characters and plot, great voice. Great sword & sorcery. Every bit was good as Lieber's Fafhrd and the grey mouser. Thank you for making this available for free - otherwise I might never have found your works.

I can't wait to read Amra 2. Unfortunately, on the iTunes Store, there is a free novella (2011), and two novels (2012 $4.99) & (2013 $3.99) all with the same title The Thief who Spat.... This is a bit confusing, especially as the 2013 version is 26 pages shorter than the 2012 version. Which is the best version? I'd prefer the ibooks version to the B&N version. Please let me know, and I'll buy it immediately. I'm having trouble waiting to read it, especially as I already downloaded the novella version. I guess I'll go read one of your other works while I wait to hear from you.

Thanks for introducing me to Amra and her world. I had fun.

Hi CJ,

I'm very glad you're enjoying Amra's adventures :). She and Holgren are my favorite characters to write. It makes me happy to know others also enjoy spending time with them.

As for the two full editions of 'Thief who Spat', they are essentially the same. One is a bit longer as it contains an excerpt from another book, is all. You are the only person who's noticed there are two editions -- or at least the only person wh has mentioned it.

And I am still working on Amra 3. I'll be posting the first few chapters online here soon :)

Thanks again for your kind words!

Michael,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I just read Fade into You. Very nicely written short story. Not many authors can do both stories and novels well. Great story. What a wonderful talent to have: the ability to go back with today's knowledge and maturity, and fix your past mistakes :-) I particularly liked that you linked it to your character's (what was his name?) sense of smell. That gave his extraordinary ability a sense of plausibility. I also liked that he didn't go back to try and make the relationship work, but had acquired the wisdom to let it go and move on. Great character development.

Thanks for answering my question about Amra 2. I just bought it and am looking forward to reading it, and Amra 3, as soon as you get it written. If you need a proofreader, I'd love to volunteer. I've signed in with my gmail account if you want to contact me.

Thanks again for another great read.
